Secure and scalable hardware and software combination accelerates Internet of Things development to centralize data storage, perform web-based analytics, and monitor remote applications in smart lighting and smart industrial markets.
Minneapolis, MN – Jan. 30, 2017 – Exosite LLC, a leading platform provider in the Internet of Things (IoT) market, and Synapse Wireless, an Exosite IoT Alliance (EIA) partner and Things Platform provider, today announced interoperability between the Synapse SNAPconnect E20 Gateway and Exosite’s new ExositeReady™ Gateway Engine (GWE) product. The E20 is a powerful, versatile and rugged IoT gateway computer that, when used in conjunction with GWE, can provide a secure and scalable application-hosting framework for custom gateway applications that enable connected solutions in large-scale smart lighting and smart industrial market applications.
With SNAP®, Synapses’ Things Platform, built-in, the E20 provides network aggregation and services on-site, and connects to Exosite’s Murano cloud platform via 3G cellular, Wi-Fi, or wired Ethernet. TCP/IP connections bridge remote SNAP devices into one common network, an effective method for centralizing data storage, performing web-based analytics, and monitoring remote applications. Powered by Freescale’s i.MX 6 processor, the E20 has ample computing power, reliable connectivity options, and a hardened industrial temperature-range design, making it the ideal networking gateway for large-scale IoT deployments.
Exosite’s ExositeReady™ GWE is a developer and deployment tool purpose-built by Exosite to shrink development time for gateways connecting to Exosite’s Murano cloud platform. GWE is a Python-based application framework that runs on embedded Linux gateway devices, including the E20. It is intended for developers who need a scalable, reliable, and secure way to manage an IoT design pattern that requires connecting multiple devices to a central, Internet-enabled gateway that will communicate with a cloud platform or on-premise server.
“Increased integration between our software products and Synapses’ Things Platform offering significantly increases the combined value proposition we offer our customers,” said Jim Caraccio, director of channel sales at Exosite. “GWE provides an application-hosting framework, Supervisor, API library, and supports functions like over-the-air (OTA) updates. Couple this with a solution template that enables data visualization in our Murano platform, and customers have a solid foundation that enables them to focus on their custom application.”
NOTE: A demonstration of how Exosite and Synapse are combining forces for the HVACR industry can be seen at the Exosite booth (#C1080) at the AHR Expo in Las Vegas, NV, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2017.
